I may not ever be a famous word poet.,
yet I have something deep inside of my heart;
I don't need fame to strive to give the best I got.
I helped the old woman to cross the crowded street.
I helped a friend who asked to learn to write and read.
I gave some bread to a hungry destitute man.
I lent a foe in need an encouraging hand.

I laugh, I live, I try, I cry when I'm in pain.
I give, I need, I fail when under strain.
I love, I hate, I dream for a better day.
I sigh, I hurt and look past yesterday.

It is so hard to live a song from your heart.
It is like trying to tear the world apart.
You give the best you can, it is not enough.
Some times it seems so easy to just give up.
I hear so many cries in the darkened night
sometimes I can not sleep because of their plight.
I wish that I could do so much more for them.
All I can do is end as I began.
To help the old woman to cross the crowded street.
To teach the friend who asks to learn to write and read.
To give some bread unto the hungry destitute man.
To lend a foe in need an encouraging hand.

To laugh, to live, to try, to cry when I'm in pain.
To give, to need, to fail when under strain.
To love, to hate, to dream for a better day.
To sigh, to hurt, and learn from yesterday.

It is so hard to live a song from your heart.
It is like trying to tear the world apart.
You give the best you can it is not enough.
Sometimes it seems much better to just give up.
You try to make the angry person understand.
You try to give the hopeless reason not to end.
There is so much you want to give unto them.
All you can do is end as you began.

(A song that started with one person ends with a chorus of hundreds)

. . . I"ll love, I'll live, I'll try, I'll lend a helping hand,
I'll give, I'll teach, I'll help you understand.
I'll hope, I'll dream, I'll try to be your friend.
I'll search, I'll grieve, I'll mend your heart again.

Great writing.
It is hard at times but God gives us peace, that passeth all Earthly understand. When we help others then we forget our own problems as we can always find someone with more problems than us.

Well done! I love the utterly rare desire to do all you can for others. I consider selflessness to be the true ingredient of Love, and only one who forgets himself truly loves others.
Now you have me thinking...
