Array ( [sid] => 4540 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => URBAN JUNGLE [time] => 2002-10-02 11:45:00 [hometext] => The rigors of city life can take its toll on anyone. Usually the harsh reality becomes unbearable especially when affluence is juxtapose with need. [bodytext] => I feel like these buildings are closing in on me,
When the smog lifts there should be a moment
of clarity. Welcome to the rat race for yet another
day where most appear odd and out of place.

The business people are decked out in a range
of suits, heading for their offices but not in
search of truth; they live in a world of great
pretense where the means always justifies the
ends.

It seems the dispossessed have swelled in a city
they thought knew quite well, broken promises
and shattered dreams and everything else in
between. My sense of decency is fading fast,
I am trying to remain human in the land of sharks.

I dedicate this poem to everyone who is faced
with the reality of living in a major metropolis. I hear you... Hustle and rush, hurry up and stop all for the sake of profit that goes to someone noone knows while doing something noone cares about. No choice or very little at least, family to feed and/or bills to pay so here we go for one more day. Before you know life's gone by and all your work is forgotten. Years spent doing something nobody will remember or look twice at.

Still I ramble but I do relate. Good work..

I too can relate as well. I am a country gal in a this type of life. with no car, I have to be near my job. and well, I just keep praying for things to be better, somehow, in my own personal world that is. its not going to be better in the cement jungle, as I call it, it will only be worse. So I must protect me, and pray I make thru it. I much prefer the real woods and country and mountains, seemed easier to live there then. oh well, one must do what they must to survive, even in this cement world... . good write , nice way of putting it..............
