Array ( [sid] => 44966 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Tv Nation [time] => 2004-04-26 19:32:45 [hometext] => Just a quick ramble about the negativity the media rams down our throat every day to increase fear and disillusionment. [bodytext] => They say we're a TV Nation,
Network rubbish and Playstation,
Our minds are all polluted,
By computer radiation.
Some say we've lost direction,
(It ran off with discretion)
Just sit at home with pay per view,
And play with our erections.
They say we're just not thinkers,
That view the world through blinkers,
And just can't differentiate,
About the things that link us.
Some say we're deeply troubled,
We're living in a bubble,
And we won't see the world as free,
Till half of it is rubble.
They say our world is ending,
You know they're not pretending,
These people just don't realise,
The love that we are sending.

Someday, perhaps, the people will realize how insignificant all those 'castles in the air' really are. Until then, we have such lovely thoughts as you've put forth. Very apropos!

I like this work. I don't even watch television. The only time that evil thing is turned on is when the grandchildren are here and they watch Disney videos. There is never anything but doom and despair. If I want to hear that I go to church where they tell us we are all doomed if we don't behave. There is a lot of love and goodness still in this word to report. Why only the bad get recognized. Sad statement on today's societal values.

You're right. If it really were true, there wouldn't be so many of us out here writing poetry and working on "becoming". Besides, the way they count viewers isn't really accurate. I leave the tv on for the doggies sometimes. Mostly I only watch HGTV and educational stuff, other than movies on DVD.

All you really have to do is look at the number of web pages built around some hobby or other. I think children should find a hobby or interest as soon as possible once they are speaking age.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
