In the twilight of our years, things want to now be said,
the mind reflects on the memories it has long been fed.
These are the memories stored, unique...so deep within,
it may take a little effort to know just where one should begin.

Memories of the child, perhaps with dark raven hair,
only laughing...with hopes of a life it would want to share.
A little twinge of sadness creeps in at certain times,
when mountains placed before it got too high sometimes to climb.

And, in it's darkest moment...there again appears a rope
stretching out from no-where...again it breaths new hope.
That rope can be the hand of someone caring in a special way,
restoring back to life what one thought had truly gone away.

Or, perhaps it's the words read on a printed page
that takes away the fears and sometimes even rage
coming from the memories thought to be forever lost,
but needing to be gathered back again, no matter the cost.

But once the mind has opened, again to cast it's spell
new words and memories on pages it again will tell.
Again there is a future, though not perfect...some moment even dark
but enough to spark a special feeling in an empty heart.
