What do I see?
Distorted images,
Are haunting me.

Look in the mirror,
What do I view?
If I said I like what I see,
That would be untrue.

Look in the mirror,
What do I observe?
The unattractive thing looking back at me,
Is no more than I deserve.

Look in the mirror,
What do I perceive?
Feel like the ugly duckling,
And all I do is grieve.

Look in the mirror,
I can’t take it anymore,
So I’ll break the glass,
Watch the shards fall to the floor.

Look in the mirror,
No longer there,
Broken things, so hard to fix,
I am in repair.

Look in the mirror,
Can you tell I’m broken?
My love for you, killing me now,
The truth I’ve never spoken.

Look in the mirror,
Will you finally notice me?
Once I’m gone, read the note,
My last and final plea.

It will read,
“It was all for you,
My life, and my death.
I will think of you,
As I take my final breath.
You never really saw me before,
But now you know how I feel.
I hope it eats you up inside,
But that you learn to deal.
I couldn’t do it,
I’m not that strong,
I can’t stand being alone,
I just wanted to belong.
You couldn’t do that for me,
And now it’s too late,
But know one thing,
For you, in heaven, I will wait.
Maybe then you’ll see me,
And we can be together.
Until then, please think of me,
And forget me never.
