I wept still. My hands covering my face as the tears mixed with her blood.

I’m sorry. Maybe you could have made me no longer hate everything so.

I touched her…she was warm. I gasp to myself as both hands now grasp her arm. But, she does not breathe. She is dead still. The pool of blood starts to grow now. It does not seep past the light.

I look into her eyes as the blood is now up to my chin. I hold her body close to mind, too sad to say she’s gone.
I cannot breathe now. The blood fills my vision, and suffocates my heart. Yet, I hold her still.

A tree. A single tree stands atop a very large hill that overlooks a beautiful grassy valley. The sun is falling in the distance, giving everything a warm glow. It’s so peaceful here.

Sitting against the tree is a body, and I walk towards it.

Me…I see now that the body is me.

A razor is in my left hand, covered in blood. My left wrist has been cut viciously. In my lap sits a single piece of paper. On it, are dried drops of blood.
I look so peaceful, almost as if I was simply sleeping.

I’m sorry that I hurt you. I wanted to tell you for so long. I love you, and I will always love you. But, I can’t live in this world any longer.
You have infected me with your hatred…with your darkness. I see now that life has no point, even if you are with me. This isn’t your fault, you released me. You cut my chains, and I thank you.
Please don’t forget me.
When you join me, we’ll say goodbye together…

I love you, and I will always love you.

The pieces come together, and I remembered I was once happy.

She appeared in front of me, her beautiful black, curly hair swaying with the warm breeze. She smiled at me, and extended her hand to me.

A single tear fell down my face as I smiled. I took her hand in mine and felt its warmth.

My world of darkness was forgotten. At that moment, I didn’t know hatred or pain, grief or anger. I only knew her…and the light she held.

We said goodbye together
Beneath that tree
