Was just a one drink
Alcoholic
He liked to drink
Jack
And beat us
He seemed to get
Some weird pleasure
From it
And it hurt
Bruised up
Black
And blue
Tears.

He never remembered
What he did
In the morning
It was just
Like a nightmare
That replayed itself
Everynight
In my head
But
It wasn't
It was reality.

He always said
He never hit us
That we were just
Clumsy
And fell
Again.

The police
Never stepped in
What could they do
Momma
Always took daddy back
And forgave him
He never hit her
He only beat us
So
She didn't have to go through
The pain.

She always said
She loved him
And couldn't leave
That we'd just
Have to suffer
That he promised
To get help
And that he was going
To get better
This time
But
He never did
It all might have lasted a week
That we were a normal family
And then he'd go out
And drink
And beat us again.

And that was life
Until
Jillian got daddy's gun
And got revenge
After
He raped her one night.

She walked out
Clutching the gun
With both hands
Slowly striding
Into the living room
Where daddy was beating us
And she had a smirk
On her face
And she called out
For him.

And when he turned
To see what
She wanted
She pulled the trigger
And bullets
Rang out
Through the air
Striking daddy

Oh my..... this poem sent shivers down my spine. well written with lots of detail.
This is very sad for the kids to endure all that pain sometimes for many many years to finally....drive them to stop it at all cost, sadly its an every day thing.
Thankyou for sharing.
