The skitter of the silent flies
Into the gray to earn their pay
Into the sea of responsability
I watch it all with heavy heart
And heavy soul, as each new start
Brings new demand and compromise
To thrust us closer to unknown skies
And assures a limit to our universe
But I like the way we found her first
The depths and all the mystery
All this wonder complaisantly
A treasure trove of inspiration
Corrupted by our exploration
Bringing us closer to a definite end
That age old truths are made to bend
I take the moon in all its glory
And count the many little stories
She brought to men, better than me
To set their imaginations free
But after all the time we've spent
And all the thoughts that men have lent
I'd hate to cast an evil eye
On they that sought to hypothisize
So I sit and stare into the stars
To find the one they claim is Mars
And question how we came so fast
To find the answers of the past
And just what answer will be the last
To destroy the celestial delight [comments] => 3 [counter] => 210 [topic] => 32 [informant] => darien [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

Good strong poem. It is as if you have recapitulated on life itself. Keep em coming from bernard

Oh, I am with you on this. One of the greatest wonders to me is that God "set the stars in place." I truly believe that, and it continually leaves me awestruck. Romance is so much better than science.

I love your rhyming!! I don't find very many people who can rhyme the way I can... it's nice to find someone else.
