[hometext] => I am by no means a pacifist - but needless ( and sometimes pointless ) wars make me angry. This poem is the result.
[bodytext] => When the din of war has ended, and all hostilities suspended, Ask yourself – Who won? – Which side? Surely not the men who died, lying, face down, in the mud, tinted scarlet with their blood. And there, amid the fields of slain, are those that lived but writhe in pain. War kills; war blinds; war maims; destroys minds. Yet we never seem to learn, for each generation in its turn, finds a cause worth fighting for and makes sacrifice to the gods of war. Again, the flower of our youth will die and all I really ask is …….. WHY?
