[hometext] => I wrote this poem as a cerative writing assignment after reading 'The Scarlet Ibis' by James Hurst, as a note. I suggest you all read the story.
[bodytext] => No weapon save for me A thought that should not be A prideful shameful mind Where grace met its demise. Rain fell like drops of gold Into a silver bowl Just like the tears I tried To hide behind my eyes. No words need be spoken I know now what I’d awoken My thoughts turn now to beauty Grace that left too swiftly. My fallen scarlet ibis The tranquil center I miss A rare and glorious thing More tender than first spring. Looking back it’s all too hard I wish now that I could guard That gift I’d never loved At the price that it deserved. The guilt will never leave But I will never be alone For my fallen scarlet ibis Will e’er lead me home.
