she stared at the sea
hands writhing
on restless arms

her face distorted
and even as she breathed
she seemed to die

as the waves caressed her ankles
a desperate tear fell down
birthed from a sorrow so deep
even i couldn't fathom

that lonely tear fell to the sand
and the waves came
to wash it away
leaving only a memory
leaving only a stain

and in that moment
she reminded me of something
something beautiful

no words could express
the pain that she felt
no tears could cleanse
the wounds that never healed
no night in my arms
no gentle loving kisses
could douse the hungry flames of her hell
nothing i could do or say
could save her from herself

and in those moments
as i stood helpless
watching her die a little more each day
she reminded me of something
something beautiful

i wish i could say that i was surprised
to find her in that tub, so red
the wounds on her wrist
puckered like a final kiss forgotten
and i wish i could say
it didn't kill me inside
though i'd seen it coming for so long
i wish i could say
"she's in a better place"
and truly believe those words
i wish i could say
that i did my best
but i really did Nothing at all

and as she lay
in a tub of cold blood
her face twisted with sorrow
even in death
my tears couldn't mask
the familiar look she held
my broken heart couldn't help but feel
like i'd been through this all before
day after day
as i watched her die

and as i kissed cheeks
still moist from final tears
i couldn't fight the feeling
that she reminded me of something

first off I am awestruck at the beauty and sadness in this poem. It almost made me cry and that is rare. Keep on writing these miracles with yer pen.

Peace,
Bobo (Joel)
