We played our favourite game it was our secret code
You knew my secret hiding place always found me there
Loved you then as I do now with such tender loving care

Would sit me at your table in my little red coat and hat
Called my little red riding hood, always a welcome mat
Four others sat in between all wanting your attention
The selfish one came later the one to create such tension

We continued to stay in touch I stayed often with you
Work for the family business you said think things through
Lost within a sea of torment as waves pounded at my door
My mind a whirl, thoughts as deep as the ocean floor

Here I am now a few miles apart never a heartbeat away
Invites to parties now declined, in a well mannered way
For things have now changed there is a spoke in the wheel
My pride and honour still in tacked not under achilles' heel

A selfish and evil cousin many times to corrupt my soul
The love and beauty we shared to her was a theatrical role
The demon and the angel, they say revenge is sweet
Heaven and hell cousin, just a heart full of deceit
To me no longer of importance she has ceased to be
Along with the family business, to the highest degree
We used to speak of secrets and hug each other tight
No longer in the theatrical limelight poor queen of the night

Love

This poem brings back a lot of bad memories for me. Your poem speaks of a reality i wish did not exist
