Array ( [sid] => 31381 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Steal Second [time] => 2004-01-11 14:14:19 [hometext] => This poem is for my grandfather that passed on, I hope you enjoy. The Phantom [bodytext] => It twas' a cold day in November,
Slowly I awoke, wiping sleep from my eyes,
The sound of the phone aroused my surprise,
The news came, and I was left in denial,

He was my hero, I began to cry,
How coud this be, the Lord must hate me,
I remember the days I played baseball,
He was my grandfather, my mentor, my idol,

He would walk hands folded behind his back,
Watch the game unfold, planning his next attack,
Steal second he would cry, a cloud of dust and then a safe sign,
Rarely did he smile, until the game had ended and we beat them by a mile,

For my grandfather I do wish you didn't have to go,
I do thank you for the wisdom you shared, and the courage that you showed,
As he was lowered into the ground I thought I heard him say,
Steal second....... as his casket faded away.

Forever Faithful
The Phantom
