Hope danced once more in the willowy light
Like an excited innocent child

Bright and warm, steady and strong
Brilliance repainting darkness and doubt
Determined this time to make a stand

Already time, the enemy of hope
Seeking to deny her precious life
Crawled silently, deeper into night

A flicker, then another
Hope quivered, touched by the breeze of uncertainty
The tower of white, now faultered, unsure.

Time played his trick as so often before
Hope the victim, subdued and overwhelmed
Grew weaker, slowly but surely melting away

I watched the glow of hope slowly die
Felt the chill of time cruelly snuff her out
A trail of smoke her passing sign

Sometime soon, another match I will strike
Once more to rekindle the fire
Hope will return to me again,I will always try to keep her alive
