Just as I have loved you
But the space between us is too far apart-
I can't even hold a breath,
Let alone a flame,
'Cause you've lost the spark
That starts my fire.
And I'm too tired to sink back in your arms
For one last time
'Cause they're too big to fit
And I stand too small to be noticed
Below the line of your eyes
That look to see anything
But a glimpse of me....
Then the rain falls once again
And the days lapse steadily
Into nights
After nights of emptiness
And I see once again
That love is too brief a moment-
And that life compared is an eternity,
That those moments made of living
Are mere specs of dust
In too windy a world...
So I sit here ,
Idle in my thoughts
Captured like the moment
In between light and darkness,
Those last frail pink moments
That slowly melt into the sky
Dripping another shade of indigo
That moment of seduction
When skin tastes the sweetest
But becomes the most bitter,
The fury of red lipstick
And skin tight leather
Those chains that bind,
But never seem to hold together
And I know that my scars become
The battleline of my heart
And my mind is just a victim
To my addiction
Because the temptation is almost as sweet
As it's anticipation,
And I can hardly resist...
Just ask Eve.
