[bodytext] => Stagefright December 28, 2003 I rarely do this, so know that it's true, When I thank you, These words are from the deepest can be. My one sore spot I let no one see, I'm opening to the one who means the most to me. Of all emotions, and all devotions, I surrendered to this. I can't believe it but it gives me bliss, To know that I swallowed my fear, Enough to get me here. Behind the curtains counting in my head, To ward off my nerves and all of my dread. Eyes closed, I hum to myself, Knowing sooner than I thought, I'll be out they're glowing. All eyes on me. I've been told I'm a coward, And to just move forward. But I don't trust the ground in front of me, I want to turn and go back to where I used to be. When I was scared to look up, So I kept my head down. Nobody told me I should take a look around. Back when I could fear a stranger, And turn away from the danger, And no one would ask me to shake their hand, Give them a chance, and see what we can. After crossing the bridge, I'll fall into the pit, So there's nothing I can do but give in to it. So I take a step closer, and manage to stand, And I see I dont fall, I'm supported by this land. And now I keep my head up so I don't miss a thing, Making up for all those years I lived with a clipped wing. Upon a stranger, I smile and go the extra mile, To welcome in my life a new companion, a friend. So months of recovery and here I stand, Behind the curtains holding my strength hand in hand. Who'd have known I'd have my own show In a small town television where I'm not known? Where I can grace the living rooms of all those eyes, As they live in oblivion to my diguise. All eyes on me, And I can finally see, Stagefright is alright.
