in your eyes
i see tainted landscapes of your past
i see the same scenes
that you relive each day
i see places where i am not
in your voice
i hear moaning spirits
ne'er laid to rest
ne'er forgotten
the restles cries of tired memories
i hear the old voice
of someone who knows me not
in your heart
i hear an e'er strung melody of melancholy
an endless song of resentful nostalgia
sung by a passionate voice, long forgotten
i see a half-built love
that you have forgotten
i see an open "lover's grave"
where you will place me
one you've figured out
what it is that you want
i see that everything here
is wilted and pale
freezing in the shadow
cast by your "yesterdays"
everything gets left behind
as you travel back in time
a little bit dumber
a little bit younger in mind
become so numb as you live in rewind
guess i showed up a little too late
to make much of a difference
or be part of your fate
and i love you so much that i'd gladly wait
if i thought you'd come back before it was too late
so i guess that i too will go back in my past
to find a memory of you that i'll try to make last
in the beginning you loved me
so it won't be too hard to find
a memory that inspires me
to live in rewind

this was just plain beauty and heartache. I loved the tone and how it was written. This was hardcore greatness.

| oh my god! This was beautiful. One of the best I've ever read. You know, I'm living in rewind and its a sad but beautiful place...... my only escape. I'm teary eyed and I'm adding this to my favorites! |
