I never thought you would have to go,
But I guess I was wrong as I sit and stare at the tinted rearview window;
I look at my mom and she has tears in her eyes,
But I am trying to keep a dry-eyed disguise;
As they put you into the ground I feel the tears coming,
And like a sudden down pour out come all of the feelings I have been holding;
I can’t help but think of us together,
Sitting, talking or just doing whatever;
I think and think as reality sets in,
I cry harder as I try to understand that all of the times we had will never happen again;
As I go inside my house and to my room,
I leave a trail of tears, cried in memory of you;
I sit in my room and all I see is pictures of you and me,
Your beautiful smile, and your eyes staring back at me;
What I would do to see you one more time,
But all I have is memories of when you were mine;
As weeks and months go by the more I realize,
That I will never again be able to look into your eyes;
Again and again I relive the day I heard the news,
About the events and how I lost you;
Now, it has been a year since you passed away,
But I still remember us together like it was yesterday;
But I seem to be forgetting little things about you,
Like the way you talked and the way your eyes were glowing every time I saw you;
I can’t believe I am forgetting the things I noticed first,
Those seem to be the things I missed the worst;
I know that no matter how long we are apart,
I will never forget the way you touched my heart;
I also know that I will see you again,
As I ring the doorbell to your palace in heaven;
You often wondered what you were going to be when you were grown,
Now you know you were an angel sent down from heaven to keep me from being alone!

I never thought this would happen

Awww..this is such a heart-wrenching poem.. It must have been difficult to write... I hope the pain gets easier as time goes by..and that the momories stay...

Death is an awful thing deal with. I lost a great friend to suicide almost a year ago, and I still cry about it. It will take time. You will be in my prayers tonight. Thanks for sharing and I hope it helped to write it out.

This is a very upsetting poem and a very good one, I know what you are going through I lost my ex boyfriend almost 6 years ago now and I still think of all the good and bad things about the way he was and the way my heart was broken when he passed. Sweetie keep your head up it does get better day by day, year by year, I will never forget what happen to my own nor will you ever forget. Just think of it this way it helped me out alot. "This is GOD's way of telling all her loved one that it was her time to go and before it got worse he thought he would do it now, He takes everyone away for a reason, but also remember that they are still with you in your thoughts, in your dreams, and by your side all the time." This is a beautiful poem and I would think to thank you for sharing it with me, I hope this message helps to ease the pain.

I remember you sent this to me a while back and it put tears in my eyes and seriously this time it made me cry.... this poem expresses so much feeling and hurt and you say it so beautifully! Your words flow in such a way that you can feel all the pain ya know? I'm glad your now a member of this site coz your a great poet!
