Array ( [sid] => 25723 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => summer lies bleeding [time] => 2003-10-25 01:56:28 [hometext] => this was inspired by one of the softer songs i've made entitled -pixie fire-, a strange celebration of nature, a bit different style for me [bodytext] => in the forest of madness
dancing with pixies of ill-repute
clothed only in the impurity of my spirit

making love to nature
as she lies bare on the earthen floor
intoxicated by the smell of dead leaves
and the taste of wind-driven flame

painting my body with hues of waning life
as summer's blood feeds autumn's reign
watching the sun set, bitter in defeat
feeling the jealous embrace of dusk

and when the moon rides high for a better view
the pyre of ice is ignited deep in the woods
and the pixies and i sway 'round it
driven by the mad piping of Pan's flute
and the apocalyptic beat
of dead limbs on hollow trunks

we sway and chant
seeded with dark earth and fire
bedding deep into the damp rot
to birth beautiful atrocities
that will never be named
never admired
for, even as they snatch their first breath
they are devoured by spirits too feeble to be seen

but, still we rejoice
as the fire slowly dies
and the sun once again threatens
to blaze 'cross the skies
for summer is fading fast
giving way to autumn's rise
and soon damp chill will shroud the earth
soon, everything will die [comments] => 6 [counter] => 150 [topic] => 13 [informant] => Cancer [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

a very different poem from your usual style but i found it intoxicating all the same. the imagery is excellent and the language you use gives a real sense of natural revelry. thanks for your comments on my recent work. keep writing, Kate x
