off key entertainment
thinking i should go deaf
instead of listening to this
believe only as much as i have to
make ends meet in the middle
losing consciousness again
repeat of last night and the night before
crazy little thing called love
ain’t love at all, is it?
the tea cups shatter
noisy clatter to the ground
hard to define what i feel anymore
too many layers and too many hurts
woven into my worn-out soul
still listening for that foot step
the one I’ve waited for
the one that never comes to call
and the child in me still breathes
ever hopeful and full of dreams
but so tired now she yawns
stretches out beneath the christmas tree
to dream of gifts she’ll not receive
and the musicians keep up the song
just for her now – just for her
the easy rhythm of her heart beating

One cries tears when one reads your poem
------------------------------------------------------
A panoply of gifts you see
That we know will never be,
What you need so very much
Is a fairy's loving touch.
