[bodytext] => The first rays of morning sun peeked through my window Like a small child eager to see into the room Then stronger, danced on the glass, hurried the shadows away Rose into the sky, softly touched my face Whispered the start of a new day Soft tapping I heard as I stirred from deep sleep I opened my eyes but still in a daze Raised my head, looked out at the world beyond Suddenly something small, there on the sill, focused my gaze There she was resting, my precious nightingale Her tiny silhouetted form burst into song Head raised her soft melody carried on the breeze Sweet notes gently fluttered over the dew on the grass Reached up into the tallest trees Climbed into the heart of the deep blue sky Carefully, quietly i lifted the window latch, opened it wide Stepped back, watched as she tilted her head, hesitant, unsure Back to my pillow, there I lay, breath deep and calm Fluffing up her feathers she hopped inside Still talking to me, chirping stories in musical rhyme Like a destiny set, she would fly every day I would waken to find her beside me As an angel she watched over me, delicate and pure singing to greet me,as I stretched and yawned Welcoming me from the land of my dreams But now, so soon, she does not come, icy blasts draw near Dark days she will circle and dip in different skies I cannot go, I have no wings to follow Nor can I keep her here with me she would not be free to sing I will walk in the chill of a winter morn To the sound of my feet on the crisp snow All the birds will be gone,my mightingale too far away to hear But the echoes of summer will stir my soul Till the next time, I know she will return [comments] => 2 [counter] => 187 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Puppy_dog_eyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
