Cold, cold rain

The clouds swirl, a storm brewing
Infinite blackness in the skies
Like the black pools of emptiness in my eyes
Windows to the soul no longer
For my soul has been ripped out
By an insatiable hunger
Rivulets of rain begin to slide
Down my cheeks on either side
Mixed with burning tears
There was no holding back
For the dam has broken, releasing a personal flood
The tears of heaven pelted, sweat and blood
Running was not an option
Hiding was an illusion
So I stood, soaked to the skin
And wondered when did the nightmare begin
The light at the end of the tunnel flickered, dimmed
Died, along with the sliver of hope that warmed my soulless body
