Array ( [sid] => 22488 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => the gods of war [time] => 2003-08-30 01:45:00 [hometext] => a strange little battle "song". old age warlords smiting the new world army. i can't explain beyond that. another scrawl that came from nowhere. [bodytext] => all around the world, their armies grow
each warrior blessed by his selected deity
their hearts, pure as the driven snow
as they set out to slay a devil, on whom they all agree

each battalion armed to the teeth
with weapons and technology yet unseen
hi-tech weapons of eradication
their sights set on my obliteration

my warriors and i have but slings, axes, and swords
blood-stained plate armor, age-old warlords
horseback, we travel, bloodlust in our eyes
each village we torch, enflames the night skies

navigating by stars, living off the land
an old way of life, the new world doesn't understand
pints of lager, passed 'round our camp as we rest
and the women sew new clothes from the flesh we harvest

now riding into battle, against the new world army
as we crest the hill, we're mocked by our enemies
horseback axe-wielders, versus machine guns and tanks
but, their laughing stops as we sweep through their ranks

the cavalry, crushed 'neath the hooves of our steeds
those not killed quickly, are left, helpless, to bleed
toppling tanks, with strength yet belied
decapitating and masticating the soldiers hiding inside

hacking and slashing with no end in sight
crushing heads in bare hands that possess ancient might
their bullets can't stop us, as we send them to hell
for our armor is enchanted by our own wizard's spell

when the battle is over, we stand victorious
dyed a prophetic red by the setting sun
we search out the general, and sever his pig-like head
and then, in celebration, we feast on the fatter dead

each world leader falls prey to my blade
in payment for the world of ***** they have made
men, women, children, all slain the same
you new world ***** pigs are all to blame

each army met, is slain with ease
with no one to stop us, we do as we please
raping, stealing, sodomizing
the world is ours for the terrorizing

when the last hiding hero's blood is spilled
and our scouts report, "there's nothing left to kill"
we'll sharpen every axe and sword
and cleanse our armor of it's blood
in preparation of the annihilation
of the napping gods above

(our winged steeds treading the stars
as we heal existence of it's scars) [comments] => 3 [counter] => 166 [topic] => 13 [informant] => Cancer [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

At first, I wasn't sure about this one, but then as I read further, you really wrote a brilliant piece about war. The new agers will fall to the axe, because all of their technology means nothing without power. It is the sword who will triumph, the fist of the people... loved the part about when all are dead, taking on the gods who slumber, really a very creative poem, as savage and careless as the real world... I'd be glad to be on your side.
