Array ( [sid] => 21884 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Groomed for Eternity [time] => 2003-08-14 04:45:00 [hometext] => Odd poem, as a child I was all was petrified about being burried alive. This poem is a take on that idea. [bodytext] => Groomed for Eternity

I’ve been placed in an elegant casket.
My body lies upon a cream satin cloud.
The soft flickering candle light,
The fragrance of the lilies,
Fill me with ease.

My attendants approach.
Patiently they groom me for eternity
Submissive I lie to the tender ministrations
The gentle caress,
As they fold my arms across my breast

But….

This amethyst silk gown
Is not a hue that I ever wore
My hair has been parted all wrong,
Having been brushed away from my face
Instead of falling across it in a gentle wave.

This lipstick is not my shade at all,
I never stained my lips,
With this bruised rose petal pigment.
Neither did I wear blusher,
I was always the pale and interesting wraith.

Painted and gleaming,
A picture perfect visage.
Yet to me it seems a grotesque mask.
All wrong.
Those who gave me these final rites
Are well satisfied with the Art.
They smile happily at their canvass.

But alas, alas, all wrong, all wrong.
But the worst mistake they made
They failed to see….
I am not dead.
