until you barged into the solitary maze
that was my hum-drum life.
Everyday showered with rumors of obsession
that's when I should have seen your dejection
but my apathy pierced like a knife.

You were a mystery to me
but tall dark and handsome set you free
from my immediate rejection
And what with your unrequited love and all
I couldn't just let you fall
away from my affection.

Little did I expect that my
platonic attitude was why
your heart bled out into song.
My avoiding stare did not mean
to make your genuine heart seem
illogical and wrong.

For into my unworthy self
you devoted all time, energy, and health
that you could not bang into your drum,
still unaware that your sun and sand
was forced into cold,
unknowledgeable hands.
To your ernest soul, I was numb.

When finally I saw the depth of your pain
your baggage had already been claimed,
post marked with permanent scars.
I had searched in everyone but you ,
but I was the only one that knew
that it had gone too far.

I cut our pseudo-connection apart
with a sharp letter sent straight to your
illusioned heart
disguised as Christmas cheer.
Leaving you scattered in pieces
still begging me with pleases
to start over, but I just wouldn't hear.
