Array ( [sid] => 20069 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Monumental Small Deeds [time] => 2003-07-07 07:35:00 [hometext] => These are a few of my questions of why God does or does not stop tragedies and some of my thoughts that answer them. [bodytext] => We're nearing the end of the year;
celebrating Christmas here and there.
Its a time for worship and gladness,
yet, frequently,
we're weighted by sadness
of a world of evils, griefs, and depair,...
atrocities by humans
maiming humanity
everywhere,
but, what about famines
from killing drouths and heat?...
people wiped away by fiery volcanoes?...
smashed by earth-shaking quakes?...
living beings drowned
by walls of flooding waters?...
masses,... impoverished,
helpless, innocent, persecuted?
In such,
where is...
the Almighty God's mercy so sweet?
Does our Lord see the misery?
Does our Heavenly Father care?
If the Creator God did not inflict it,
can He still not take it away?
So much we cannot understand,...
and we tend to blame God
for the great disasters to man,...
but,
I think if we could see what God sees,
we would be appalled....
by the vast collective consequences
of all mankind's little sins!
Oh!
And what about
the insidious power of apathy?
Don't you know
that makes the devil grin?

Lets review the great events of history,... all the treaties and wars,...
all the buildings and burnings,...
and all the winds and waters
that changed the face of earth.
Then,
lets look at the personal ones we face.
Our hopes are great!
Our fears are overwhelming!
We can find ourselves consumed
by just our living
and our dying,... unless,
by grace,
we take this note.

Not one monumental event
became what it did in a day.
It was made of little deeds, good or bad, determined by the character
of our wills and our ways.
Events were built just bit by bit,
imparticularly and significantly,
by both, the known
and unknown ones of us,
in the way that we have lived each day.

Again this season brings us
to reflect, with Christ in mind,
"Have I done well this year?...
Isn't there some little thing
that I could do
to comfort some soul with love?...
to feed and clothe the poor?...
to give some courage to replace a fear?
And if I don't or won't,
then who is to blame?"

Has your heart been hearing God's call?
Then, for the love of God,
please do it!
It only takes small acts of caring,...
doing bit by bit,
wherever you are,...
day after day,...
just giving whatever you have to give away,...
your heart,...
your time,...
your touch,...
your rhyme.
These small deeds are monumental
in the workings of God in time.

My thoughts exactly. You are right in your surmise of our closeness in point of view.. I'll not read further (today) before returning to our primary discussion..
