Sensitive, dark eyes
Hiding the ugly truth
Supressing the hurt inside
All that I can hear
All I can see in my head
And all I can think about
Are things you haven't said
Why do you have so much bitterness
Staining your beautiful soul?
Why won't you tell me your fears
And get rid of the deep, dark hole?
I'd like to hear the stories
Of when you were a baby
Before your father up and left
Back when you were still hate-free
I'd like to hear the stories
Of when you were a little boy
Of who was your favorite pet
And what was your favorite toy
I want to hear the stories
About your teenage life
All the drugs and the red-hot anger
The cold fear and the pain and strife
I need to hear the stories
Of what made you the way you are
I want to picture you in my head
I don't want you to be gone so far
I need to know how you feel
And about what makes you tick
I want to feel empathy for your pain
And understand why you're sick
Share with me your secrets
Fill me up with your sadness
Empty your well of tears
I'll be there to get you past this
What's in the future?
What's happened in the past?
If you don't kill yourself first
Do you think we have a chance to last?
I may not be able to help you
But I sure would like to try
Just give me a chance to listen
And I will let you justify
If later we find that it's too much
And you feel like you can't handle it
And it's too hard to talk to me
Then we can always leave it
When you talk about your dad
The hate rolls off you in waves
But I think underneath it all
That you love him anyway
And I can't listen to your voice
And hear what's under your words
And not wonder about your sadness
And just sit back to observe
I have to say something
Even if at this time you don't believe
I care for you so much
And wish only to set you free [comments] => 3 [counter] => 163 [topic] => 55 [informant] => pooieschmoooie [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => dedicatedpoems )
