this night, my friend
the day
can’t ever seem to end
no where to go
and nothing to do
but just sit here
and think of you
cups of tea
tumbling papers
for now no cigarettes
they’re saved for later
i closed the curtains
but changed my mind
i like to see
the pale dawn light
i watch all night
with all-seeing eyes
occasionally
people walk by
but mainly I stare
wishing someone would be there
outside my window
stays cold and bare
dark purple rings
surround my eyes
growing every night
i live this life
after midnight
i enjoy the peace
such tranquillity
no harassment or grief
but the silence
is a constant reminder
i'm alone
i'm afraid
and for this little girl
there’s no-one to find her

insomnia breeds inspiration i think...i like the rhythm of this, it seems to reflect a longing and suggests that this isn't just about sleepless nights but also a craving for something more. perhaps read my poem 'Sleepless Circles', it runs along similar lines. great write, Kate x

This one definitely rings true...I can empathize!! You did an awesome job capturing the lonely feelings...and the thoughts that seem to haunt us most in the midnight hours!! XoXo
