I love the comparison of the weightless bird to the heavy burdens of we enslaved beasts.
Beneath the lightness of their swift existence, we carry our regrets and responsibilities with determined perseverance.
Perhaps our only saving grace is that we are not stalked by cats, but merely our conscience!
UNTIL OUR DYING BREATH.
Here is a personal melodrama condensed into 8 lines, or powerful truth and self assessment we can all to well relate to. softerware

Jaye covered all the bases here and I agree.
I/'/m with you on this. Feeling the same way myself today. It hasn/'/t been a good few months here and you nailed it. Poor us! Great writing! |

this is so true,
yet, dragging every life
regret,
piling on beneath birdsong,
until our dying breath,
Seems so unreal.
It is poetic, like a poet
of high accord,
or low accord, or of no accord,
no kind of human esteem
sat out back in my yard
and just made birdlike
sounds.
In a natural way.
And still I took from it
something, that might
help me get by,
awkwardly, and unaware
as my own existence
held no wings that could
never fly.
Great job!
Peace!

How very true. I agree with James that Jaye covered
all the bases. A bird, at least to me, is one of the few
beings that exhibit the true meaning of freedom.
They only have to answer to the wind. As we sit
beneath the clouds watching the birds fly overhead
we wish that we were as free as they are. Not fully
understanding that we brought our enslavement
upon ourselves. That if we were to relinquish our hold
on the past and realize that when it comes to the past
and our regrets that there is nothing that we can
do to change those circumstances due to the fact
that they are in the past. Our only option is to
learn from the past and do everything in our
power to not repeat the past. Its one of the more
difficult things to do and something I struggle with
everyday. Although this piece is fairly short it
is very powerful. Great job.

True, our big brains have us dwelling more in the past and future than the moment. Damn you, Cortex!
Nicely phrased and structured.
