When it comes to God/'/s love, there/'/s no better love to find.
God loves us so much that he gave us his only begotten son.

We make mistakes but he forgives us when we fail.

Randy, I had a long and wonderfully generous compliment typed out regarding your poem. I went to expand this little box as the comment grew larger than the box allowed and the entire comment vanished. I don/'/t have the fortitude to reconstruct it...sorry. But, the Cliff/'/s Notes version stated that genuine people living a life as Christ illustrated, are the finest people I know. These people need not be Christians, as defined beneath the roof of any religious building. It is the LIVING a decent life that is important, not a professed belief in man made institutions. I say the following with humility; I try hard to live as the gospel instructs. I read the bible and can quote many a verse by memory. i ain/'/t braggin/'/ here, just supporting the fact I try to live according to the gospel.
I celebrate the beauty of Christ/'/s LIFE, but, for all of that, I am NOT a christian, as defined by those proudly and loudly claiming they ARE christian.
I now share with you the single largest impediment to my drinking the Kool-aid. It is the immutable conviction of these proclaimed Christians that if one does not publicly profess that Christ is their lord and savior, thereby being /'/saved/'/, then that person, REGARDLESS OF THE QUALITY OF THE LIFE LIVED, will spend eternity burning in the fires of hell. It is so presumptive, so arrogant, so self-righteous, that, ironically, but for the teachings of Christ, which I embrace, i would use my limited writing abilities to tear mental a#@holes in every one of them. This, right here, is the most verbal I have been on this subject i feel so strongly about. My OWN WIFE believes I will rot in hell while she ascends to heaven, and that conviction has created a deep sadness in her....Randy, I wonder if Christ ever said, in plain old English (a metaphorical allowance is required here), that "You MUST BELIEVE I am your savior, that ONLY I can save your soul. You MUST, or when you die, you will spend eternity in the fires of hell".
i actually feel sorry for those people....what a burden to carry such an ill conviction. If you are one, then i/'/m sorry for you. My heart will not summon pity though; there is no room for that for people convinced I will burn in hell forever, though I live a life based on the EXACT same teachings and principles.
Randy, or anyone reading this that believes in the heaven/hell paradigm, you will find a most interested reader should you reply. I honestly want to hear a logical, moral defense of such a belief.
Are you out there, defender of your faith? If so, i await your answer to my question.
Good poem, Randy. I think that maybe, just maybe, it got me by the nads, which is a litmus test for good poetry.
Blessings,
Invierno |

An interesting write Randy. We all need heros to emulate. Kind of like the destination on a map, you know? They say if you don/'/t know where you/'/re going -- thats where you/'/ll get.
I have had many earthly guides in my life, but so far, no heavenly ones. I believe that we are driven by our own conscience, which is written by the beliefs we choose to embrace. Therefore, I am my own hero. The one who does the work of being who I am.
God may be the architect, but I am the bricklayer.
I love the spirit of your poetry, and the passion with which you write. We are fortunate to have you here on YPDC. |

God is a tripod,
where one sits their camera
upon while the man
falls down the hill
after he is shot
The last look upon
his face, the Spanish
Civil war, the God
who is...
Peace! |
