[hometext] => When insanity is the norm, the sane are deemed mad.
[bodytext] => I went to church before I went to war,
a speck beneath a mighty steeple,
and prayers devout rang out to keep me safe
from all those savage Muslim people.
The minister swathed in golden cloaks,
in belting voice through God he spoke,
and congregants in joy as one
prayed Jesus guide me and my gun.
And when the service drew to close,
my hand raw from shaking all those
soft and pink palmed Christian hands,
wishing best for me and death to those in other lands.

An important lesson to take away here. After all, Jesus told us to do unto others as we would have them do unto us. And that God is love: therefore, whoever does not love is not of God, to begin with. Great work here. Blessings,

Oh, the bitter irony you have magnified for us!
Your poem spares no quarter in describing how we misuse religion to justify our own agendas.
The last line slams home the message and there is no escaping the consequences.
We cannot be in denial; your truth is self evident, and a few may find themselves looking into a mirror.
Stunning write.

This is a true sad state of affairs. When a poem can cause strong emotions it is a good one.
