Array ( [sid] => 185173 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => YOUR BEST ADVICE [time] => 2018-06-02 22:42:55 [hometext] => If you comment (hope you do) share some wisdom with us too! [bodytext] => If you look back, what would you share; That you now know from being there?
I always thought it might be nice; To know enough to give advice.

I’ve saved enough to turn me gray; And I can’t GIVE the stuff away!
So I’ve hidden it in rhyme; from experience, one more time:

If you think braces cramp your style; Try living with a crooked smile!
Did parents stick to you like glue? One day you’ll know they cared for you!

If friends won’t lend you any money; thank them soundly one day honey.
When you’re standing on your own; by no one’s hand but yours alone!

If you spent childhood on the roam; You need far less to make a home!
But if you never left your town, then you have life-long friends around!

Those whose plans burst at the seams; are skillful at rebuilding dreams!
But if you’ve always had the best; Jealousy is your big test.

If you’re quiet and understated; You’re told secrets unabated!
If you’re loud and posturing; You probably wont hear a thing.

What we cried for yesterday, is seldom what we want today!
And its true, what we expect; is probably just what well get!

Now its your turn; Tell us what
Is the best advice you*ve got!
Share and get it off your plate;
And hope it doesn*t come too late! [comments] => 5 [counter] => 97 [topic] => 21 [informant] => softerware [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

I did not talk much as a kid.
Who am I fooling, I talked non-stop,
Unless I felt vexed by my oldest sister
who feed me when I was just a baby,
who I shared baths with.
She was strict as heck with me.
I would have a crazy pillow fight with
my brother and the pillows, worn and
cleaved, let out their feathers all over
the floor.
You will, just you, clean this up with no broom,
and then, she slammed the door where
there was no escape. And I sat there
all alone for many hours until I knew.
But now I know even more, she was and
is a gift. Someone I always looked up
to. The first to go to college, get a masters
degree, even when many of the older relatives,
as well as the neighbors all thought that wasn/'/t
a women/'/s place.
You know people who expect a bit more
out of you, who vex you when you are a kid,
and yet, you still cannot do anything but
look up to them.
If you got one, you got a priceless gift, much later
on, you know.
So conventional, so wild-like, all those
years later on when you remember
the headstrong, vex, that made you
sit for hours and hours all alone.
Where hotheaded, turned into imaginary,
and creative, and in time, in turn,
a plan, your own
deeply flawed.

Peace!

I guess my advice is to fume as much as you
can all alone, and then, given time, figure things
out, what went wrong, and how did you react.

you got to break the wild horse while knowing
he is still always going to be wild by nature.
Once in a while the wild horse will come back
to you in the open fields, and he will let you
ride on his back for a while.

Peace!

Ive come to see that whenever you go thru something difficult that the people that you tell about it sometimes say that you are a better person than they are..when all actuality they dont know how they would react because they have never been thru anything similar.
That lies no matter how well they are conceived always find a way to bite you in the butt when you least expect.
That our children, although they are their own persons they are mirror images of ourselves and show us who we truly are.

Another brilliant piece as always. You got me to think about things :)))
