This cloistered world of merry dancing fires,
all a crackling sham,
my table pen, paper, thoughts;
these bricks of air
I travel not beyond,
cloistered as I am.

Those tainted places I daren/'/t go,
for what I’ll see and being seen,
these chains my pride has wrapped me in;
I thought me kind but find I’m mean.

Not the schoolyard bully type
or the racist beast that barks,
I’ve the meanness of a petty mind
in my comfy cloistered park.

I eat what I want,
no thought to where, the cost or when.
I see the tracks, the neon glows
where souls go to end.
But my cloistered soul I’ve come to loathe
disallows my having friends.

You have drawn the finest of lines between privacy and isolation, and colored in the misgivings of the one who dwells there.
A bridge too far, I think your alter ego has traveled.
It is not age, but wisdom that brings you face to face with your existence.
By your desolate and reproachful example, you have left us a message: it is never too late to change our ways!
How you do manage to hide such gems in your contrary protestations is always a treasure hunt for me! And your readers are never left empty handed.

this is perfect, how it sits.
how things are sewn, all of
it so easily accessible, so
very safe, a safe place,
that never really was.
You say mean, it might appear
very much so to be mean,
to a whole host of folks, especially
to those who would wish for peace
and tranquility, but have none.

It is easy to feel as much, never venturing
out of a shell.
Oh it is easy to sit and write anything
down, our voices might sound shrill
like a muppet/'/s mind might only imagine
that they know about life, when the truth
is they just don/'/t.

But don/'/t worry. Everyone is cloistered
In fact, those that point this out this fact about themselves, seem to forget, or openly forfeit
any tangible sacrifice they may have made
And call it luck, and feel ashamed.

Peace!
