we get physical pounding the key board letting the frustration go
the influence of ignorance breeds a negative insurrection
mass production of misinformation erupts and explodes.

No longer confined to their earth bound hells
Facebook created creatures are now known
wisdom gets lost in meaningless chatter
the intoxication of nothing is so strong.

common sense is long gone
hate and paranoia have become the masters
love and desperation confuse the view
its getting hard to figure out what really matters.

low self esteem boosted by illusions but depression can not be contained
selfies and likes rule and telling things that should not be told
being hurt by words because you think they are talking about you in a post
crippled in silence no more the new tower of babel is out of control.

oh how so true / Cspan has a viewer call in show in the AM which I recently witnessed / it/'/s an extension of the comment section of any online news where people spout off nonsense, or fake news, then someone says something true, followed by more bickering, and on and on...

nobody keeps score / just patterns of vileness with which to endure.
she is better than that and so is he I am left to think if I stop to think when I think I should. And I do.

Great topic to address. You got it on the head. It is a REAL problem. I can see our society, our world, all the people....we are changing in a way never before seen in the history of our existence and we are losing an essential component of that which defines our humanity. What is left is distasteful and sadly, us...the people on this site, are in that shrinking minority of people capable of critical thought. There/'/s all kinds of poets here....lousy ones, brilliant ones, mean ones, suicidal ones, genius poets and one or two I think should be president of the world. But the facts are, we are HERE, exercising our grey matter, and that, that alone, is what.......(yes...you guessed it) matters.

While every care is taken to ensure the general sites content is family safe, our moderators cannot be in all places; all the time. Please report poetry and or comments that are in breach of our site rules HERE (Please include poem title or url). Parents also please ensure that you supervise your children well when they are on the internet; regardless of what a site says about being, or being considered, child-safe.
