Years have passed
Yet memories recumbent
As pale green eyes awaken
Staring up into a fluorescent dawn
Where a technicolor rainbow resides although faded
Still it brings a hint of hope to the shared mind of a troubled soul
As the internal clock chimes, the 13th hour calls
With a voice so silent it’s deafening
Yet singing a lullaby that does not bring rest
While the tapping of rubber heels
Resound thru darkened corridors
As pallbearers once again make their solemn march
Listening every so intently
As the footfalls grow silent
While a tumbler clicks the final countdown
To a resolution arriving
One day early but one day too late

I can picture many things with this piece. A soul tormented. The grim reaper knocking on the door. Hell waiting on the next arrival.
Sinister and a darkness that I find enjoyable to read and take part in. Awesome job Rich!

Ominous, with images of dark dungeon walls and barefoot dragons. Such riddles as a lullaby that does not bring rest! The sense of time rushing past and slipping through our fingers brings a sense of out-of-controlness. Very spooky little write, but gently committed in soft words without sharp edges that soften the blow and give us hope of finishing the read before we are killed off by the plot.
The redeeming is to have lived to tell the tale!
