Eyes applaud the surroundings yet my heart wants more
I find a welcoming spot to wrap up within my cocoon
Anxious as they sky/'/s changing and night will arrive soon

Breezes caress as the hanging moss teases the ground
Earth/'/s melodies blend with the evening/'/s magical sound
Wrapped in my safety zone, no longer hearing the harmony
Knowing the river will soon present the show I came to see

River/'/s currents swell with each beat of the night/'/s heart
The cooling air brings white smoke creating their start
As daylight wans, the dark hides their slow gentle rise
Ghosts in the river crying out for me to open my eyes

Ghosts of mistakes I refuse to acknowledge or accept
Constructed from the salt of thousands of tears I/'/ve wept
Ghosts of smiles and laughter dancing and singing my songs
Remembering loving promises in preference to my wrongs

Specters from the past parade among the glowing mist
Chanting their stories in a unison that/'/s hard to resist
My eyes watch these apparitions twirl in the rising waves
Begging listen, listen before they return to their graves

Their dance is done when the stories have been told
Time beckons them depart as black night turns to gold
Yet knowing I/'/ll return as life/'/s seasons is sure to deliver
Memories that will conjure up more ghosts in my river
