I discover different shades of me,
Some an unpleasant discovery
But I let go and set them free

One must not fear change-
It is inevitable.
Embrace your inner strange
Yesterday is irretrievable

There is a lesson to be learned
Each and every day
Another 24 hours burned
Trying to find my way

An inner light that guides
So bright it's burning
Exposing all that hides
In the pages turning

At times I want to close a chapter
Skip ahead, or go back in time
But chameleons are good adapters
Meaning; I can turn on a dime

The punishment doesn't fit the crime
And sometimes that's the way it goes
Subliminal; with a twist of lime
I'm a criminal, and it shows. [comments] => 11 [counter] => 993 [topic] => 21 [informant] => hauntedscorp [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

You're a clever one, Scorpers. You write, not only with style but also that certain thing that hits the reader every time: understanding. You just get it, and the reader relates. Even with a twist of lime.

Words of wisdom and determination.

Happy to see a new one from you. Glad my chanting crowd did the trick. Here guys, here's a dollar each...go get a milk shake.

This dances with abandon in a most delightful parody of coping with living every day!
"I discover different shades of me" we can all get out our crayon boxes and relate!!
"Embrace your inner strange!" This little philosophy should be engraved on lockets!
My favorite is "Another 24 hours burned trying to find my way"…I am going to steal this as a closing salutation to handwritten letters…it summarizes most of my 24 hours!
To wit: splendid, funny, original, wise, and thoroughly entertaining! If this is "recovery" I selfishly wish you frequent opportunities to do so!

I've given it three reads and I keep getting caught up and hung up by the last three stanzas. :(
I mean I get a relateable feeling about the first of the three, because of something I felt when I was in my latter teens, almost like a faint bug-zapper was in my eyes. Needless to say, weed was not for me. Lol

There is some I feel I get, but if you would be as kind as to explain some to me I'd be thankful. :D
