Laugh and play in your cradle all night
Holding your hands in "ring-a-ring-a-roses"
You took me up in your arms to your closest.

There was a time I used to fall
Each and every time I tried to crawl
But you rushed to me to help me in pain
You wouldn't let me get hurt in vain.

There was a time I used to wait
For each and every Sunday brought me anticipation and gay
Standing on that porch I can hear you say
"Come quick and hug me tight as soon as you may".

Then there came a time I used to look
Exactly like you in your younger years would
Everyone said I was growing up to be like you
And even I started dreaming I could actually give up everything for you.

Sitting in your lap I would love to hear
Fairy-tales to drive away my fear
People said these are useless stories
Hilarious talks of a delirious lady
But little did it matter when I had you near
I loved you with all my heart and that was all that was real.

But when the time came to bid you goodbye dear
I forgot to remember that you were no more here
I kept on staring at your dead smiling face
Imagining you were still talking to me then and there.

My soul failed to realise the truth
And I forgot to drop tears too
My Angel had left my side
And I kept on crying forever like a child
Tears lost their way inside my eyes
And forgot to leave their tracks in time. [comments] => 5 [counter] => 334 [topic] => 55 [informant] => sanders [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => dedicatedpoems )

This touching heart felt poem reminds me of my own dedicated poem I wrote for my nan when she passed away on 29th of November, 2000.. its on here I actually had it published its called I Guess You Loved Me. Its always so hard to say goodbye to someone you hold so close to your heart and never want to let go of, you've expressed this in your poem very well.... well done keep up the great work.

This is so special and heartfelt. My grandparents all passed too soon, but I too carry smiles and wonderful memories.
Thank you for giving me pause in my day.

I am sorry for your loss.
