suddenly the giggles ceased:
the guffaws petered out and
the belly laughs stopped aching.
tears dried and creased smiles
slackened to pained expressions,
or tightened to grimaces.

where had all the laughter gone?
she asked to crowd
one of our own has died came the reply
one of the best of us said another.

so we mourned the loss of laughter
and the soul of humour, as it
took flight from the fragile shell of
the Comedian.

I wasn't going to write a poem about him, but I'm so glad somebody else here did.
So many of us who never knew him saw something more than just a ridiculously talented comedian, or actor. Almost immediately I saw the character of a really truly kind man who always filled ones heart with hope. We, or at least I, just a fan, really felt at a loss as though I knew him personally.
Thanks for your poem...
You touch on his poetic spirit, not just a stand-up comedian, or impresario of the free form imaginary
He was just cool... big and absolutely true
Peace!

Hey Spike,
I also wanted to additionally say that Robin Williams had a genuine magnanimous spirit about him, though he could criticize the Iconic figures around who did us wrong, he did it in a very kind abstract sort of way... he was the man who didn't show the anger in his tones, didn't have to, cause he had this special way with words. We must bite our tongues sometimes, too many times it seems, we could easily shout reactive and filled with
less than a sound argument... then, there's no real discussion allowed in. I learned that from Robin I think. I really respected him in that way!
Peace!

I was shocked when I saw that he had died. Truly sad.

Not only a comedian, but a genuine kind person and great actor.

A very nice tribute you have penned here.

Thank you,

Tim

Was wondering if anyone was going to write about what happened, so sad that such a good person left this earth, was one of my favorite actors it will be strange not to see his face on the big screen anymore

Well written
hope to read more soon possibly on a brighter note

I think his passing struck a chord with so many in all parts of the globe.
A unique talent that has now gone to give laughter to the angels.
We are left with a legacy of his work at least, that remains as a consolation.

truly a beautiful tribute to a great man, what really makes me
sad is that he brought us all so much laughter and happiness
and he wasn't happy enough inside himself to stay....

hugs n' love nessa

A grand tribute, Spike. Not overdone, just perfectly apt.
Why is it that comedians, who bring us so much warmth, are often such tortured souls?
