Who winds the clock,
that little fumble of a time-piece
bouncing neglected in my special
pocket just for it?
A part of me,
Twenty years tick-ticktocking my life
indiscriminately to the sound of the El-
staccato beat hell from the frying pan
into the fire
of a sea of cars and people-
who winds their watch?
Grim and set in a plethora of scheduled
asides, a sea and waves all wandering with purpose
forgetting to wind the clock. Tick. Tock.
Turning the keys and lubricating the cogs
to a more balanced life- How could I forget?
The little hand spun in madness and when I checked
again, it was ten years later
and when I realized that,
I knew I let my clock slip in favor
of the non-winding convenience of digital-
the impersonal presentation of our lives made easier
in bold red one doesn't have to mind. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 210 [topic] => 21 [informant] => invierno [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
