Gliding up there
You have to believe what you can’t see at all;
Won’t let you fall!

Cut through the wind;
By nothingness pinned!
It kicks at your belly, tossing you well!
You’re a salad from hell!

I’m not satisfied
That because birds can fly
This old painted box can
Stay in the sky!

It’s rock hard below;
And I’m up here, hello!
Trusting mechanics, and aerodynamics,
And what do they know?

They're safe on the ground
While we’re heaven-bound—
With a pilot from hell who likes
Horseing around!

They call it a joystick;
Well, it's made me airsick;
So I’ll take this sack, and I’ll be right back;
NO! Don’t do an air trick!

Oh please bring it down!
Put feets on the ground!
I’m green in the derma; and fervently longing
For sweet terra firma!

If you do a roll
I’ll hock up my soul;
Trust me, my money’s worth
isn’t my goal!

This ride is over, pal!
Head for the clover!
I’m cured of grandstanding;
And you won’t get paid if you
Don’t make a landing!

My feet feel like twigs;
Let me outta this rig!
No, I’m NOT grazing!
I'm keeping the promise I made if I lived!

"Thank you my sweet
For this swell birthday treat!
the flight was sublime;
You must do it next time,
It’ll be on my dime! "

(YOU be the view-king!
YOU do the puking!
YOU take the thumps that raise
bumps on your skin!

Cause I will be damned;
If you’ll get me crammed
Into a glider plane ever again!) [comments] => 9 [counter] => 363 [topic] => 7 [informant] => softerware [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => HumorPoetry )

wow, always wondered about those silent
light-wing birds.
See them once in a while when I hike in those hills, no you don't hear them, easy they might be to miss. High density/low density altitudes,
As altitude increase high density air decreases
whoa, lot to think about.
sicker than sailing for the first time on a windy day in the ocean I think I might become.
Rather go with hot air balloon and have a nice picnic, a table for four, don't hang off the side
we got a bucket for that.
This kind of made me nauseous, right quick.
Thanks!

This is a great write. Loved it. As a pilot, you've made we now wonder if any of my passengers were thinking what you so eloquently and delightfully expressed.

Although, no one has puked on me, yet.

haha

I'm thinking you didn't like your birthday present. o.O

This was very fah-nee and a joy to ride....er read.

I can so relate to: It’s rock hard below heeheehee! I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of the landing after the fall!

Thanks for the chuckles. Happy Birthday!

I like this. Guess I could have written something similar after my first plane ride but in time I came to enjoy flying. The first few times are the worst. I know that relief of placing my feet on the ground after a nerve racking flight. Thanks for sharing this.
