tho you may not even know me or the brilliant man i loved
never having seen us together two mooshing turtle doves,
first seeing each the other across that quite crowded room
each had prayed for a lover- we knew this love would bloom,
our first real date was a dance- kissed and held the other tight
he smelled so good i almost fainted- ending not- wished of the night,
second date; 'great adventure' roller coasters and sweet laughter
it was just so damn much fun more of this we were after,
it took us only nine days to make a lifetime promise
we held not a thing at bay dave held my hand in his,
we spent time at the ocean loved more each passing day
balloons, teddybears, emotion before we fell into the fray,
the air itself it felt alive- we breathed each others breath
laughters happy life so free and never dreamed of death,
at midtown diner he had steak and i had the grilled salmon
he asked 'will you marry me?' across the room i spit my bun,
on my hand he put diamonds the only ones i ever kept- said
'i love you' kissed me sweetly- i was completely 'swept!
one loving romantic night- oops i had forgotten about the pill
we said 'let's leave it to destiny' and then said 'what the hell?'
four years later three kids- each a most welcomed great surprize
a mix of both our hair colours we were so lost in their eyes,
our dreams- now we had it all nothing nor no one could stop us
hurt, lie, or ever make us fall- for in our love we did trust,
and every day a pretty flower- never mattered what the season
he brought them to me faithfully many kinds, colours, reasons,
i will have to say it was this way for he was killed so cannot say
of two honest loving soulmates- so this true story i do portray,
O yes! truelove it does exist- i must confess 'tis the very best
so go forth into the world and build your own happy little nest.

This read just like a song. I like this very much. True poetry always stirs the heart and you have a great talent for it

I like the tempo you gave your words- It feels like I can hear you speaking this aloud. The rhyme-y words that added to the flow. What I really loved was how you captured everything many of us strive to find our whole lives. Those sound like such special memories. This is very sweet.

Dearest Nessa,
Loved it! It felt real. I almost ducked ...
My heart is heavy with sadness for you and yours in the wake of such a loss.
Thank you for sharing something deeply personal!
Many hugs,
Michael
