People will always stop and stare All because their unaware Of why we Self-Harm When it has no charm When we're done crying Its not always about dying Its what we can no longer hide That we have locked inside It needs to be let out But have no doubt It doesnt mean that we are weak When we cant get the help we seek We somehow have to let it go And its the only way we know We dont need to apologise Just because they dont realise We should hold our head high And reach for the sky Show off your scars Whilst counting stars.

Bravo!
I love the line "show off your scars, whilst counting the stars!"
What a mantra to live by!
Your poem is inspiring..it brings out the very best in the reader!…
Think you have lessons to teach…be brave, speak up! No matter what!

True every word, I would encourage other people who self harm to write a poem about the feelings they cannot express freely within their respective groups.
Very good write and a great way to show ignorant minds of what it is to self harm, I wear my scars like clothes. |
