Array ( [sid] => 175163 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Valentine's Goodbye [time] => 2013-02-18 02:52:48 [hometext] => The comical dramas of the last Valentine's day was halted by the news of Goldie Harvey's death, A Nigeria-based Singer and a famous African act. [bodytext] => VALENTINE'S GOODBYE

Feb14th, valentine’s day it's called
the whole world colored red
so many talks
too many expectations

A super bright day
love in the air, I got choked
held my breath, like I saw it coming
a tragic dusk, to wrap up its comics

Happy Val! Wish you same!
the most common words
flying everywhere, all day
on everyone’s lips
gifts, some sent
others got, some neither

like a swarm of bees
social network so flooded
traffic jam so crazy
faces on Facebook too many
Tweets rolling in in myriads
"HashtagFeb14" trending
all around the world it seemed

The day speeding so fast
our hearts wants it drag
suddenly the dark cloud surfaced
so thick we panicked

Goldie! Goldie!! Goldie!!!
that word bouncing everywhere
isn’t that the singer’s name?
“Say My name”
I heard that few minutes ago
this time a dirge

Social network got the rush
much grieve, the “Naija community”
she’s dead...true, false, yes, no
questions and confirmations

But she was on a global screen..."BBA"
so real they took her for granted
so loving they felt folly
‘waging’ tongues everywhere
but simply human, a love being she was
couldn’t help but break down
the “Kenyan” her weakness

Some asked
why do fools fall in love?
forgetting that’s what we are
when it comes to love
some loved, some hated
that’s pure reality
you win some, you lose some
like scalene triangles, different sides to life

wow! so we lost her, our 'social eye'
how disheartening
so why all the struggles
why do we die to live
when at the end, we live to die still
the ephemerality of life

Wanna be this, wanna be that
actors on the stage called world
wanna play all these roles
when we don’t even know
if the “Director” is about to yell “cut!”

So much pains in our hearts
Goldie is gone, many dreams unfulfilled
who knows who’s next?
we keep moving
though on a journey to the unknown

Either good or bad we gamble
writing our names as we go
in sands or carved in stones

No fairness in life
we only pray for a fair share
here today, tomorrow no more
how frail life is
how transient our stay

Each day we wake
gets us closer to the grave
we don’t know when
only the “Supreme” has an idea
he brought us here
he’ll take us back...at will
no one questions
who dares anyway?

Now we say 'goodbye Goldie'
someday, they’ll say same
to you, to me
the difference is ‘now’ and ‘then’
make the difference between
you have today, seize it!
tomorrow is never guaranteed

Write your name in stones
neither time nor space erases
longer days we pray
God bless the dead
Silence.............
