That meant more than you thought
Its very nature less than asked
Bringing pleasure never sought

What begins as a mundane errand
Leaves you standing there smiling
From a lump of coal comes a diamond
Joy is found in the littlest thing

What wonder I discovered yesterday
When I offered to help a fellow man
Foolish pride in me saying yeah, okay
Unaware of life's lesson as I began

Certain I was the one doing the favor
Surely there was nothing in it for me
Never thinking I would always savor
The honest joy and truth I now see

By opening the door to a new chance
With a willing smile, an open hand
Brings an opportunity that perchance
Allows you heart and world to expand

Never know when a moment arrives
Where a simple fact of circumstance
Brings a change of fate that contrives
To enrich life with a friend or romance. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 142 [topic] => 54 [informant] => dvtpdw [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => happypoetry )

I've always been a firm believer that helping others gives you that sense of purpose in life.
It seems to happen less often these days, people become so self consumed they forgot about others.
Thanks for reminding us all!!
