Array ( [sid] => 174761 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => At the Tone [time] => 2013-01-08 11:49:01 [hometext] => Sometimes, I write. Other times, I am written, haphazardly, erratically, and unrepentantly all over the page. This is mostly for bookkeeping. [bodytext] => Were I a dreaming man,
I would remember
That every emptiness is but an unfilled opening,
Or perhaps that silence
Is so easily filled by laughter.

Were I a wiser man,
I might know
How loneliness, and happiness,
Can feel so far apart,
Yet be a few mere leaps away.

But I am not wise, nor dreaming,
And though I walk this Earth,
I mistrust the world's pull.
Perhaps it too has grown desperate.

I am happy,

I tell myself.
I must be happy,
I have no want for food,
For shelter, for friends, for family.

I want nothing,
Or there is nothing that I want.

I need nothing,
I tell myself,
I will get by with that much.
And I am right; to be happy,
Nothing is enough.

And now,
I am tired, and I am lonely,
And I have learned not to
Ask for more.

So hello,
You've reached [-------------------],
I'm a little broken right now,
Please leave a message,
And I'll get back to you

When my head stops spinning,
And my world starts moving again.

I feel very at home with this style of writing, journeying through the imperfections of life questioning acceptance or the need for furthur questioning, at the same time bringing warmth through words that are recognisable and empathic, like a winters fire this style of writing brings the reader closer and there is an affection in it being so relatable. Eloquent poetry.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
