Hours sing in harmony with life's song
Was my life spent well or squandered badly
Did I do enough good or created too much wrong

When I'm gone, will my husband truly know
How his smile could light up my whole world
Or know that his touch made my body glow
Around him, my whole being was twirled

Will he know that when I gazed upon his face
All I wanted to do was wonder at my luck
That he choose me in the gambit of Love's race
In his arms is where I remain safely tucked

When I'm gone, will my children truly understand
I loved them before they were even a thought
I couldn't believe we created something so grand
Their happiness, joy, a battle endlessly fought

My daughter, my emerald, my precious stone
Did I show her how much she truly meant to me
When I'm gone, will she remember the good alone
Or will the clashes, bad times be all she can see

When I'm gone, will she know I thought her beauty
Was created from the stars; the sun lit her soul
Will she know her life was more than my duty
And that with her every smile, my heart she stole

When I'm gone, will my son know that I treasured him
Will he understand I looked at him with eyes of pride
From the first I held him, joy exceeded my life's brim
Does he know, even now, I still hold him deep inside

We may be on different paths, so many disagreements
We may not see eye to eye, heart to heart, love on hold
When I'm gone, hopefully he'll see truth's statements
Maybe he'll find love for me, if I may be ever so bold

When I'm gone, will my precious grandson remember
How very much I love him, how much I adore him
Will he know that he is my life, January to December
He is the light that carries me forth, never to ever dim

Will he ever understand that he is the wonder of all
His dreams, hopes, aspirations will always be nourished
No matter what comes, I will never, ever let him fall
Within my heart, he will always be forever cherished

Will my other grandchildren have a fond place for me
When I'm gone, will I have passed on my love for them
When they look back, will they know that for me
They were created by the moon and sun on a whim

Three beautiful granddaughters, another mighty grandson
How did I get so fortunate to be blessed with them
My life has been made up of many battles never won
Now to find that I've been granted this Love's gem

When I'm gone, will I be remembered with fondness
Or will they think of me as an unwanted person
I hope that I did what God had planned, didn't digress
I hope that I gave more than I took; my life well done

When I'm gone, remember the good in my footsteps
Remember that I loved everyone that I let into my life
I hope that I gave you a smile, a laugh, no missteps
I hope I gave you more love, joy, that I did strife

Everyone spends a moment imaging their demise
We all wonder what is it that we'll leave behind
If we could see, we'd be in for a real surprise
So, open your heart now; don't enter death blind [comments] => 5 [counter] => 370 [topic] => 48 [informant] => dvtpdw [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

This is so powerful!

The many questions we have in life...
Have we done enough?
Have we done what God has ordained and created us to do?

WOW! Very Nice!
