I saw everything you did and I can remember every moment,
The worst of it all is that you still continue to do it today.

Back then I was a kid who would misbehave and get into trouble,
Whether it's running or messing around in the house, you name it,
There were good memories, but also bad ones as well,
I remember how you would hit me repeatedly for misbehaving,
By the time you were done there were broken clothes hangers everywhere,
My legs would be in so much pain I can barely stand.

Now that I am older, I thought you would change.
Apparently you're not supposed to make assumptions in life.
Some days you would come home with smile on your face,
Some days you would come home and take your anger out on everyone,
Just because you had a bad day you would yell at me for no reason,
There are times when I sit in my room and here you yell at mom,
I would clench my fists together in anger really wanting to say something,
Instead I choose to stay silent and contain the beast inside me that wants to be free.

I hate having to go through this all the time,
You try to make up for it by buying me things or taking me places,
Nothing will make up the physical and internal scars that you have left me with. Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
