And wailing with tears took your very first breath,
She knew she would love you till the day she would die.
And you’d always be special as the apple of her eye.

She provided for you a warm loving home.
And she did it with patience but mostly alone.
She could with her beauty sought for fame and much gold.
But she chose you all to have and to hold.

She fed you, and bathed you, and clothed you all too.
But through tired eyes her love still shone through.
She changed many diapers, nursed and kissed all your hurts.
Then to provide for your needs she had to find work.

Raising a child is no easy thing.
But the hard work is worth it for the joy that you bring.
Now she does what she does for she feels it is best.
For her precious dear children she’d face any test.

Her kids have come first as she puts herself last.
Any dreams for her future are behind in the past.
What matters to her are the children she’s raised.
The lips of her offspring should bestow on her praise.

Try to see through her eyes so that you can see,
Just how difficult it is to raise up a teen.
Someday you’ll learn just how hard it can be,
Especially if you also have three!

Through pain and much weakness
She still shows her strength.
To guard and protect you,
She’s gone to great lengths.

In times of hardship, you have seen her cry.
But she never gives up and you’re the reason why.
And even when grown up with kids of your own,
Your first love is Mom, and where she is will be home.

This is a wonderful tribute to a mother...my mom was a single mother with 7 kids I know that was no easy feat...your poem made me realize just how much of herself she gave up for us all...
