What happens when you knock us down,
Or blacken both our eyes?
And just when you try and bury us,
We surprise you as “We Rise!”

We aren’t at war with a religion,
But a religion is at war with us!
And we die to protect your freedom too,
As you throw us beneath a bus.

Your native lands receive many billions,
So a few now rich tribes bear
A very new type of poverty,
That is called social welfare.

Our people are the ones who are
Lifting your people everyday.
It’s our dollars and sweat and blood.
That sends bread along your way.

So why not cut through the hatred,
And for once reason with your mind,
Does killing the hand that feeds you,
Bear the retribution you shall find?

Whenever you raise a sword toward us,
And cause us to slip and fall,
You only strengthen our resolve,
To come for you one and all!

Great poem Edgar.
Hits the nail on the head. domestically as well as globally.
Captures the present situation brilliantly.
Thanks for sharing.
Blessings
Elizabeth
